About this course
The Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW) qualification is the entry-level first aid certification for appointed workplace first aiders. It equips learners with the knowledge and practical skills to manage first aid emergencies confidently until professional medical help arrives.
Delivered entirely on-site at your premises, the EFAW is the ideal solution for lower-risk workplaces or smaller organisations where the full three-day FAW qualification may not be required by your workplace risk assessment.

Delivery & assessment
Delivered in one day (6 guided learning hours) at your premises. Assessment is by continuous practical observation — no external exam. Maximum class size is 12 learners per trainer.
Your certificate
Successful learners receive a Qualsafe Awards EFAW certificate, Level 3 RQF, nationally recognised and valid for three years.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need any prior first aid experience?
No. The EFAW is designed for people with no previous first aid training. Our trainers start from the basics and build your confidence throughout the day.
What do I need to provide for the training?
Just a suitable room with enough space for practical exercises — ideally a clear floor area of at least 4m x 4m. Our trainer brings all equipment including manikins, AED trainers and first aid supplies.
What's the difference between EFAW and FAW?
The EFAW (1 day) is the entry-level qualification covering the most critical emergencies. The FAW (3 days) is more comprehensive and covers a wider range of injuries and conditions. Which you need depends on your workplace risk assessment.
